Part 2

Another
good example of a horoscope of chief of state is that of King Charles XII of
Sweden, whose birth time was given in the recently published biography by R. M.
Hatton.

The
king was busily engaged in the battlefield during most of his reign (November
1697 to December 1718). Persia, Denmark, Norway, Poland and Russia all plotted
against Sweden and in 1700 the Great Northern War was launched and ended only
some two years at his death, with the Peace of Nystad (1721), which forced
Sweden to relinquish nearly all her possessions. In July 1709, the entire
Swedish army of 18,000 men was captured by Peter I (the Great) of Russia and
Charles fled to Turkey, where he spent five years in exile and was then forced
to leave. At his death in Norway on December 11, 1718 by an enemy bullet,
Sweden was impoverished, many lives had been lost, her struggle for an empire
ceased and she was no longer an important European country. The ambitions and
futile wars, sometimes instigated by Charles himself, came to naught due to his
Kalasarpa Yoga.

The
horoscope of Louis Napoleon III of France furnishyes another instance where the
head of state and his country suffer together owing to Kalasarpa Yoga in his
horoscope. In his geniture you will notice that Rahu is above the horizon, both
from the Lagna and Chandra Lagna.

He
founded and wrecked the second Napoleonic empire. Like the preceding Charles V
and Charles XII, he was a dreamer, had imperial ambitions for his county, but
also had some good intentions. After he became Emperor on December 2, 1852, he
got involved in several wars: tried to establish an empire in Mexico with his
brother at the helm, only to see him assassinated; and was badly defeated by Persia
in 1870. He was then required to abdicate in favour of a republic and went into
exile in England, where he died  on
January 9, 1873.

General
John Churchill, 1st Duke of Mariborough, was not a chief of state,
though through his wife, a great friend of Queen Anne, and through his
son-in-law, the Lord High Treasurer, he wielded great influence and was virtual
ruler of England from about 1702-10.

The
greatest general of his day, he was Commander-in-Chief of the English armies
and also ambassador to Holland, whose armies he had commenced, but it was not
all sunshine. In cession, beginning in 1701. The Rahu Dasa had commenced, but
it was not all sunshine. In 1692, he had been deprived of all his offices and
temporarily imprisoned in the London Tower and did not return to royal favour
for six years. But in 1702 he was highly honoured by the Queen as a Knight of
the Garter and Made military commander. At the end of 1711, however, he was
dismissed again from all offices and went abroad into exile. Three years later,
he was back in favour and resumed his military offices. Then ill-health set in
and he died at the end of June 1722 after his third stroke. Rahu aspected by
Jupiter and in the 10th from the Moon elevated him, but his
Kalasarpa Yoga caused breaks in his career.

The
horoscope of Prince Charles Edward Stuart (“Bonnie Prince Charlie”) of the
House of Stuart, shows how Kalasarpa Yoga finally put an end to this royal
line.

This
so-called “Young Pretender” to the English throne was the son of the “Old
Pretender”, half-brother of Queen Anne, who aspired to become King James III.
James, the Old Pretender, had himself made an unsuccessful attempt to become
king in 1708. Then the Earl of Mar tried for him in 1715, but also failed.
Prince Charles Edward then tried (for his father, not for himself), but this
last attempt in 1745-46 was also a failure. He was completely defeated at the
Battle of Culloden in April 1746, a price of 30,000 pounds was placed on his
head, and he had to wander and hide until he managed to escape to France in
September of that year. The fate of the House of Stuart was sealed, the Scots
could no longer wear the kilt, and the calm system was dissolved.

Mary
Stuart, Queen of Scots, mother of James I, the first Stuart on the English
throne, had Kalasarpa Yoga, and so did James I and his son, Charles I, when
Oliver Cromwell beheaded as a tyrant and traitor. This ended the Stuart line
until Charles II, after eleven years in exile, became the first king under the
Restoration. Charles II did not have Kalasarpa Yoga, nor did any of his Stuart
successors, the last of whom was Anne.
