Many of the prisons in the country are overcrowded and always criticized for lack of even basic facilities. Minority communities constituting a bigger chunk of the total prison population are also a neglected lot. They are not getting the advantages of the law even though they are eligible for many. It is precisely because it is assumed that they suffer from the process of assimilation. The study attempted to explore the prevailing conditions of the notified minority community prisoners so as to facilitate the government to get an insight into the realities and thereby helping them to initiate adequate measures for improving the living conditions especially of the persons who represent notified minority community.
