Awasthas
of Planets
The beneficience or
maleficience of planets can be determined in several ways and one of them is Awastha- meaning state or strength of
planets. Astrological classics have mentioned many such types of Awasthas. However three of these Awasthas, which are more commonly used,
are discussed below:

Baladi Awasthas:
These include five types of Awasthas with their results as shown
against each:

Dasha effects of Awasthas:
Add
up the sign numbers of lagna and that of the planets under consideration.
Double the total and add to it the number of years of Vimshotri dasha of the
planet. Divide the sum total by 27. The remainder gives the serial number of
the Awastha of the planet for a
particular chart with the results as shown below against each:

Snan

(Bathing): respect, honour, comforts, enthusiasm and successful ventures.

2.
Vastra Dharan
(Dressing up): Worldly comforts, reward
for excellence, exalted life style and prosperity.

3.
Moda

(Happiness): Gains from overseas, recognition and fame.

Poojarambha
(Ready for prayer): Property gains from various
sources, status, comforts of vehicles, and favour from authorities.

5.
Prarthana
(Prayer): Troubles from authorities, bad name, and
migration.

6.
Pooja

(Worship): Honour, authority, leadership, general happiness and prosperity.

7.
Yajnarambha
(Ready for yajna): Biliary disorder, additional
work-load, troubles, and hindrance in education.

8.
Prabhu- Dhyan
(Divine meditation): Overcoming enemies,
and enhancement in immovable property.

9.
Upveshna
(Sitting): Generous & humble to all, and comforts
of a prestigious vehicle.

10.
Pradakshina
(Circumambulating for worship): Weak digestion,
disease in abdominal region, and calumny.

11.
Bhavna
(Desire): Great success, bliss of worldly comforts,
and mental satisfaction.

12.
Atithi- Satkaar
(Hospitality): Enhanced reputation,
wealth, respect, great name & fame at times due to illegal acts.

13.
Bhojana
(Dining): Disease, greed, dishonor, and social
boycott.

14.
Jal-Seva
(Enjoying water): Hindered feeding, ill-manners, evil
at heart as well as in action.

15.
Krodha
(Anger): Calumny for no sufficient reasons, and
humiliation.

16.
Tambulashana
(Chewing betel): Successful execution of
jobs undertaken, victory, and enhanced learning.

17.
Vasati
(Inhabition): Construction of a house, adequate
wealth, constant gains, exalted position at work, mental satisfaction, bygone
worries, easy success.

18.
Mukut-Prapti
(Coronation): Status of alike a great
king, honour & wealth, mandate from public, Income from pious sources, and
great comforts.

19.
Mantra:
Involvement in false activities or litigations,
inattentive or drowsy, trickster in interactions.

20
Vilamba
(Delay): Careless in execution of work, idle,
procrastination, over confident, shirking from deep knowledge.

21
Nidra

(Sleep): Anger, disease and disturbance because of dispute in family.

22
Madya-Paan
(Drinking): Addiction to toxic drinks, anxiety caused
by indifferent behaviour, and treatment received from noble men.

23.
Mishtaan Bhojan
(Eating sweets): Fine tuning with wife,
comforts arisen from progeny, support from friends, and overall satisfaction.

24.
Dhanagama
(Inflow of wealth): Handsome earnings in business or
profession, accumulating immovable property.

25.
Kireeta Tyaga
(Renouncing a throne): Indifferent
attitude of supporters, loss of wealth, stepping down or resigning from a high
position, and diseases.

26
Shayana
(Recumbence): Chronic disease, post of
authority/political success, and persona welfare.

27.
Rati

(Sensual pleasure): Distorted wisdom, melancholy, rivalry, wickedness,
faithlessness, and relations with evil women.
