House of Aries: The cluster of stars pertaining
to this house has been named after a ram known to Indians as Mesh.
This house has 27 bright stars, of which two stars of the third grade luminosity are its head; two stars of the fourth grade luminosity on its mouth; four stars of the fourth grade
luminosity on its hands; five stars of
the fifth grade of luminosity on its
back; four stars of the fourth grade of luminosity on its feet; and two stars of the fourth grade of luminosity on its abdomen, which appear in the east like a ram.
House of Taurus: This house resembles a
bull called Braksha. There is no fixed number of stars in it.
However, it has seven stars of the fourth grade of luminosity on its head,
seven stars of the fourth grade on its neck and seven stars on its hump called Pliads; one star of the first grade on
its eye; three stars of the third grade on its left eye and two stars of the fifth
grade on its ears, which appear at the particular time in the south direction.
Houses of Gemini: This house resembles the
figure of twin boys joined at the loin and known as Mithun. This
house has 18 bright stars with two of the second grade of luminosity on its head; five of the third grade on its arms; two of the
fourth grade on its thigh; and two of the fifth grade on its foot which appear to cling together at a particular time in the west direction.
House of Cancer: This house resembles a sea
crab known as Kark. It has twelve stars, of which one is mercurious and found on its chest; two at its mouth and nine of the
fourth grade on its chin which appear like a crab in the north direction.
House of Leo: This house resembles a
lion called Singh. It has 27 bright stars of which two of the first
grade luminosity are on its heart; one named lion’s heart and the lion’s tail respectively;
two of the second grade in its eye; six of the third grade in its loin and eight
of the fourth grade on its back; four of the fifth grade on its foot; and five
of the sixth grade on its paw which appear like a lion in the east direction.
Indians call it the eastern house.
House of Virgo: Its shape is imagined
after a damsel holding on the ear of hyacinth. Indians call it Kanya. It has twenty six brightest stars of which one beautiful star of the first grade of
luminosity is in its left hand called ‘Samaakal
a’zal’; six of the third grade on its neck; six of the fourth grade on its
loin; and three of the sixth grade on its navel which appear at the particular
time like hyacinth in the south direction.
Recognition of the
Celestial Houses: Although the monument of
the celestial houses is invisible to us, if we look from the west to the east, leaving, one part from the Zenith, in the evening a part of one house will be
seen in the beginning while the side of other celestial houses will appear
gradually.
House of Libra: This House resembles
scales called Tula by the Indians.
It has eight bright stars of which brighter
four of the third grade of
luminosity are on its paw, two of fourth grade and two of the fifth grade one
on its chin which appear at the particular time like a pair of scales in the
west direction. The Indians call it western house.
The Imaginary Shape of
the House of Scorpio: This house is said to resemble
a scorpion called Vrischak by Indians. It has 21 bright stars of
which one star of the first grade of luminosity is on its heart and is called the heart of the scorpion; three excel stars of the first grade is on its heart and
is called the heart of the scorpion; three red stars of the third grade are on its
hack called ‘akleed-al-aqrab’. Out of the remaining eight stars of the
third grade two are on its nail and six
are on its foot while three stars of the fifth grade are on its neck which
appear at the particular time in the north direction in the shape a scorpion.
House of Sagittarius: This house is considered to resembling
a man armed with an arrow and bow from
bust to back and resembles somewhat a neck
less horse. Indians call if Dhanu.
It has ten bright stars of which seven are of the third grade of luminosity.
Two are on the arm; four on the bow and one on the arrow. It has twelve stars
of the fourth grade on its four legs while eight of the fifth grade is on its
thigh; four star is on its mercurious tail. They appear at the particular time in the east direction like
a bow.
House of Capricorn: The shape of this house
is a congregation of 34 stars which are said to resemble a crocodile or a goat.
Indians call it maker. If has 34 bright stars of which six of the third
grade are on its head; three on the right and three on the left; two on the
tail. Eight of the fourth grade and five of the fifth grade and seven of the
sixth grade on different parts of the body which appear at a particular time like a
crocodile in the south direction.
House of Aquarius: In somber books of
astrology, where needed to show the shapes of houses, Aquarius is shown with a
well taking clues from the word Kumbh. However, it is linked to a
male person standing on a patch of heaven, holding a small bucket in his hand.
Indians call it kumbh. This house has forty two bright stars of which
two extra bright are on the right side of its head; one of the third grade
of luminosity is on its back; three of the third grade are on
its right hand; nine of fourth grade, twelve of the fifth grade and nineteen of
the fourth grade are scattered all over its body which appear at the particular
time in the west direction. Indians call it western house.
House of Pisces: This house is considered
to resemble a pair of fish. Indians call it Meen. It has
34 stars which rarely appear in the dark night. Along with it there is a
cluster of seven bright stars named Pliads
often seen near the northern pole Kritika nakshtra. It has two
stars of the third degree on its eye while twenty one stars of the fourth
grade, five stars of the fifth Grodel and six stars of the sixth grade are scattered
all over its body which appear at the particular time in the north direction
like a fish. Indians call it northern house.
