Narayanabhatt: Shataakshosapi tatsakshato lohaghataihi kujo dwaadashosarthasaya naasham karoti. Mooshaam kimvadanto bhayam dasyuto vaa kalihi paaradheehetudukham vichintyam. He has fear of injury from weapons. Loses wealth, people spread rumours about him, there is fear of thieves and of quarrels which cause him loss of weawlth.
Vasishtha: kshitisuto bahupapapabhaajam. He sins all the time.
Jeevanath: Kujosapaaye yasya prabhavati yada janmasamaye tadaa vitaapaapam sapadi kuroote tasya satatam. Kalankaprakhyaatim pishunajanatashrachaurakulato. Bhayam vaa shastraa derapi ripukritam dukhamadhikam. He has speedy loss of wealth, he is falsely implicated by the wicked in criminal matters, there is great fear of loss by theft or weapons.
Parashar: Vyaye netrarujam bhratrinaasham cha kurute. He has eye disease, his brother dies.
Hillajaatak: panchavedemite varshe haanido dwadasha kujaha. At the age of 45 he suffers losses.
Gholap: He undergoes a sentence in jail. He is squanders, cruel, quarrel some and mixes with wicked people when he has wealth. There is fear of black magic, snakes and fire. He dies in jail.
Gopal Ratnakar: He is poor, suffers from Vatha ailments, cheats people, has many enemies. His house burns down in a fire and his wife dies. If Mars is auspicious none of this happens.
Yavanmath: His voice is harsh, he is angry, grief stricken, travels a lot, his eyes are destroyed because of dryness and he may suffer from cataract.
Paaschaatya Math (Western Thought): There is fear of secret enemies. If Mars is in a malefic conjunction with Saturn the person has fear of thieves. He goes to jail. He is brave but crazed. If Mars is malefic, all this happens. He is a gambler, unwell, violent, antisocial and an enemy of the state.
My Thoughts: Barring Aryagranthakar all astrologers have ascribed malefic properties to Mars in the House of Expenditure and these can be seen equally in masculine and feminine signs. The worst affected are Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, cancer and Pisces. In contrast Gemini, Libra and Aquarius are relatively less affected. In Scorpio and Capricorn there are very destructive results. Hillajaatak and Yavanjaatak have said that the person loses wealth at the age of 45 but I have never witnessed this. The good properties ascribed Aryagranthakar are seen in Aries, Leo, Gemini, cancer and Libra. Parashar does not explain how he predicts the brother’s death. It could be because it is the third place from the space denoting the father.
My Experience: He is a glutton and lustful but gets very little opportunity to interact with women. His first wife dies and he has to marry a second time. He cannot complete education if he takes up mathematics. He manages to complete it if he takes up morphology. He is entrepreneurial, truthful, generous, angry and self sacrificing. If he is a leader he is a freedom fighter. His brother and children die. The tribe could end with him. In the horoscope of Nagpur’s philanthropist Rai Bahadur D Lakshminarayan, Mars was in the House of Expenditure in Libra. In the case of the late Deshbandhu Das it was in Leo. In the case of Lala Gangaram of Lahore it was in Scorpio. All three were the last of their line. There are few or no children in such situations. And in case there are children, they are all daughters. These people like spicy fried food. They travel abroad and have extra marital affairs. They are reformists get on well with their wives but quarrel in bed as they do not get sexual satisfaction. At the age of 26 they get fame. In the horoscope of noted writer Mr. Khandekar of Maharashtra Mars was in the House of Expenditure in Sagittarius so he was kind and generous. They can be angry and blunt spoken. They are forever searching for happiness. They incur debts but settle them during their lives. There is fear of falling down, poisoning, accidents etc. They suffer from headaches, cluster headaches, blood disorders, gastric ailments, geriatric ailments etc. Though some astrologers have said the person wishes his mother dead, all the people I have met with Mars in the House of Expenditure have only wished their fathers dead. They never have money, either it is stolen, used to pay off debts or is just lost. Everyone agrees that it is an inauspicious influence.
